The small piggy who snarfs anything coming its way gets a certificate for its achievements. Snort 1.8.6 gets the ICSA IDS Certification. Snort is one of the first NIDSs to receive this certification. It means that Snort was validated in four different areas: exploit identification, false positive rate, event logs and performance. Whoever said that open-source products are not comparable to commercial ones in terms of certifications was underestimating the power of open-source.
