Browser on Fire

StatsWhile my site is no indicator of the real surfing world, I do get some feedback about changing times when I look at my web server statistics. Last five days’ stats state that Firebird has overtaken Mozilla at the second place behind severely bugridden Internet Explorer out of 496 visits to the weblog page (1653 total) . Firebird has been my favourite browser since the 0.7 release. The best part about Firebird apart from the listed features is that it doesn’t require any installation. Useful if you do not have admin access to your machine in office. So for the rest 59% of the people visiting my site, I recommend that you try out the lean mean standards-compliant Firebird (for Windows). Heck, you can even have an installer. And a newbie’s guide too.

Any idea when Firebird is to become the official mozilla browser? I thought it was to happen after 1.4 was released, but now we have 1.6 and still nothing?

Another thing, although many Firebird users visit the weblog than IE users, the number of people using the browser have increased dramatically. There was one point when 70% of the readers were IE users.

I am an intense web surfer. Given the time, I sit for 5+ hours on the net. And I only use Firebird for surfing. I do experience slowness in browser performance sometimes, but remember Firebird is still 0.7. Mozilla when it reached the 1.0 milestone, its performance increased rapidly. So I do have faith in the Firebird team for optimizing Firebird. In case you do notice slowness in Firebird, all you need to do is close the browser and restart again.

Dude, The reason for that might be the kinda people we know. Most of us use Firebird and keep visiting each others sites. That is not really an indication of what normal junta uses. I am sure the number of people who surf Slashdot with Mozilla/Konquror or even Links is different from the people who surf MSN.com with such browsers. Firebird is good, but I have noticed after running Firebird for say an hour or so, my machine gets unbelievably sluggish. :( Cheers,

And now Firebird has become Firefox and works better than ever! Not only does it render HTML/CSS more correctly, but it's faster, lighter, and has more features — especially with the extensions
