Evolution of Type
I have always wondered how the ancient heiroglyphs that man scribbled on cave walls evolved into full fledged scripts. This site dedicated to the origins of writing partially answers my questions. They have compiled it very nicely but then I have one grouse. They haven't even mentioned about the Devanagari script and the influence of Sanskrit on many European languages, which afaik, it had. Meanwhile, check out this short graphical overview of how the typeface evolved since man started to express through writing. Not comprehensive, talks only about the Roman script, but nonetheless insightful.
